How I started programming

I was working on an animation for a planetarium dome when I needed to learn some Ruby so I could complete my idea of an animal spiraling down the dome.

That's when I realized that programming was the missing link to my future. I started programming at a Railsbridge workshop and I was so inspired I started tutoring at Railsbridge and started a weekly study group. I participated in Railsgirls LA as a speaker and then took over as the lead organizer.

I participated in Railsgirls Summer of Code twice where I worked on Open Source code. I have worked as a developer and a teacher/coach/tutor.

Currently, Summer 2018, I am teaching programming at UCLA's Summer Recreation Program and I am learning VueJS. I will be sharing whatever I learn for years to come.

I enjoy the programming community. I have made many interesting friends all over the world and contributed to many cool projects. I love the environment of collaboration that exists within it.

I live in Echo Park - Los Angeles, CA

Echo Park is a vibrant mix of cultures, incomes, architecture, commercial activity, and social activism that has retained its unique character and charm for more than a century. Contributing to the neighborhood's eclecticism and unique sense of place are its varied topography, historic architecture, and scene of artists and musicians.

The Eastside is just a bit more punk rock than other parts of Los Angeles. Right now Echo Park is the epicenter of the genuine L.A. experience. It offers just the right amount of street art, graffiti, bicycle riders, restaurants and clubs to make it a vibrant Southern California city.
